What the BTC halving cycle position measures
The number answers one narrow question: where is a Bitcoin block inside this fixed cycle model? A reading of 0 represents the model’s theoretical bottom and 1 its theoretical top. The path rises for 157,500 blocks, then falls for 52,500 blocks before repeating. Because it is deterministic, any block height always returns the same result.
Why direction matters as much as the number
A position such as 0.30 occurs twice: once while the model is rising and once while it is falling. Treating the number without its direction loses half of the information. The calculator therefore displays the position, direction, next theoretical waypoint and the number of blocks remaining together.
How this differs from price, RSI and BTC dominance
Cycle position is a slow block-based model. BTC price and RSI react to market trading, while BTC dominance describes Bitcoin’s share of total crypto market value. Price is overlaid here so readers can compare real price paths with past halving phases; it is still not used by the cycle calculation. RSI and BTC dominance remain in the separate BTC market dashboard so several indicators are not collapsed into one signal.
What could invalidate this model
The model assumes that Bitcoin continues to behave as a repeating 210,000-block cycle with a three-quarter rising segment and one-quarter falling segment. It cannot adapt if institutional flows, liquidity, derivatives, regulation, adoption or miner economics change the shape of future cycles. Use it as a consistent time coordinate, not as proof of when to buy or sell.
